COMBIO & SDG

COMBIO & SDG

A signatory to the Global Compact since 2014, ComBio believes that all companies can contribute to Sustainable Development Goals, but few have SDGs embedded in their DNA. We are proud to say that four SDGs comprise pillars of our business model.

We contribute to innovation in the industry (SDG 9) through technologies incorporated into the boiler and the development of different types of biomass; and to the circular economy (SDG 12), by using by-products from agroforestry activities as a raw material and by disposing of ash through composting. At the same time, we have significantly increased the share of renewable energy in the energy grid (SDG 7) and contributed to a low-carbon economy by being a benchmark for reducing greenhouse gas emissions (SDG 13).

ODS 7

SDG 7

We generated approximately 8 million GJ of renewable thermal energy in 2023, and more than 4 million GJ in the period January - May 2024

ODS 9

SDG 9

Over the last few years, we have invested more than R$10 million in the Research & Development area

ODS 12

SDG 12

In 2023, more than 550 thousand tons of the biomass consumed (65%) came from the waste and by-products of various activities, and around 90% of ash was diverted from landfill and used in the production of fertilizer and charcoal.

ODS 13

SDG 13

Since founding, we have prevented the emission of 3,031,530 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
